Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are designed to teach children (based on their skill level) water safety, water acclimation, water movement, and water stamina in progressive stages. Instructors are certified lifeguards through the American Red Cross.
Each session will consist of 5 (30 minute) classes over a 2 week period:
Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday
Week 2 – Monday & Tuesday (Wednesday will be used as a make-up day if class is canceled by Y staff.)
Classes will be held from 8:45-9:15am and 9:20-9:50am.
Preschool (Ages 3-5)
Swim lessons for our Preschool children (ages 3-5) are designed for beginner swimmers. The session will consist of five 30 minute classes.
Stage 1 Water Acclimation: In this beginning class, children develop comfort with being underwater and learn how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water. If your child will go underwater voluntarily they may be ready for Stage 2.
Stage 2 Water Movement: In this class, children are taught skills that focus on buoyancy and movement in the water and learn how to safely exit in the event of falling in a body of water. If your child can do a front and back float on his or her own they are ready for Stage 3.
Stage 3 Water Stamina: In this class, children focus on swimming longer distances. In the event of falling into a body of water the children learn to swim to safety.

Youth (Ages 6-12) Beginner Level
This class is designed for youth (ages 6-12) who are beginner swimmers. The session will consist of five 30 minute classes.

Youth (Ages 6-12) Intermediate Level
This class is designed for youth (ages 6-12) who are intermediate swimmers. An intermediate swimmer feels comfortable in the water and can go underwater voluntarily. The session will consist of five 30 minute classes.

Stage 4 Stroke Introduction: In this class students are introduced to basic swimming strokes and work more on endurance.
